Every design process for a logo is different than others because it depends on the client’s requests, type of logo needed, actual brand style and so on. Yet, there are some basic steps I follow each time in order to design the perfect logo. I’ve decided to describe this process in a post thinking that clients and even beginner designers would be interested to know how it is done.
I consider that an example of an actual logo designed by me for an Upwork client is the best way to catch the essence of this process.
We are going to talk about the logo you’ve already seen displayed at the top of the page.
So let’s dive in!
I divided the whole designing process in three steps:
- Briefing and Sketches
- Logo Options
- Final Logo
This is just a personal choice so please take it as such.
Briefing and Sketches
It all starts with the client brief. The design brief should contain specific elements, but I’ll cover this subject in a separate post.
In this case the client didn’t have an actual design brief, but sent me a message with all the info. The logo is a text and symbol combination for an exercise website targeted to ladies, named “The Peachy Movement”, which needs to include a peach that will be the key element. The client specifically asked me to sketch several peach designs in order to choose the one he likes more.
Based on that info I made the following sketches.
Logo Options
The client liked the first representation of a peach and starting from there I created four different logo versions. Here you have them.
Final Logo
The client made his choice and here you have the final logo presentation.
One last note: as I mentioned earlier, each logo design job is different as it is influenced by a lot of factors. So, don’t be surprised to see other designers working different or even me, who knows 🙂 …
